The pressures are structural, not personal
Project
The Boistory Foundation advocates for neurodivergent Africans and African creatives, and works toward a forum for their mental, relational, and economic health, grounded in creative wellness. Alongside that, as a secondary objective, it keeps alive the musical archive of Ozor Agyare-Kumi, known professionally as boistory. I was brought in as content lead to build the strategy, the editorial system, and the content itself, from zero, working alongside his family and a lived-experience researcher.
Challenge
The client was a family reading every post about their own grief. The engagement had to hold two registers at once: emotional storytelling for fans on Instagram, evidence-based advocacy for NGOs and policymakers on LinkedIn, in one consistent voice. Every advocacy claim needed a source or a quote, never an adjective. There was no existing audience and no playbook to start from.
Approach
Research came before rules, and rules came before content. I ran 85 interviews across two research corpora: 53 oral-history conversations with Ozor's family and collaborators, and 32 interviews with African creatives on money and working conditions. The second corpus produced the finding that shaped everything after it: the pressures on African creatives are structural, not personal. I wrote a voice guide, an ethics protocol, and a publishing workflow, then built the visual identity and a code-driven design system, so a copy change regenerates every asset in minutes.
Result
Two campaigns. The first reopened the archive around the anniversary of Ozor's passing: verbatim finsta quotes and oral-history reels became the three best-performing posts on the account, with the anniversary-week reel reaching nearly 4,000 plays on a page days old. The second turned the research finding into a content slate for African creatives: 17 publish-ready posts built, captioned, and staged before the engagement closed. In total: 90 days, 85 interviews, 2 campaigns, 17 posts, 46 exported assets, 7,500-plus video plays on an account that started at zero.
Impact
"The archive is not a tribute. It is a case file." That line closed the second campaign, and it's the standard the whole engagement was built to meet.
